Giannis Antetokounmpo shared an update on his future in Milwaukee with the Bucks during a live stream with popular streamer IShowSpeed. Giannis and Speed, real name Darren Watkins, were live streaming from Antetokounmpo’s home country of Greece.
One of the most dominant players of his generation, the former NBA champion and MVP is coming off a 2024/25 season in which he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
While streaming with IShowSpeed, Watkins was listing the cities with high tax rates, such as New York and Los Angeles. Giannis then says “a lot of people” have been trying to convince him to play there, prompting Speed to ask if he’s staying in Milwaukee.
“Probably. Probably. We’ll see. We’ll see. Probably. I love Milwaukee,” Giannis said before changing the subject and pointing out a local church.

Antetokounmpo is under contract with the Bucks for the next two seasons. Following the conclusion of these two upcoming seasons, Antetokounmpo will hold a player option for the 2027–28 NBA season, which essentially means that he will have the personal choice and flexibility to decide whether he would like to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks for that particular season under the terms of his existing contract, or alternatively, he can choose to decline that option in order to enter free agency.
According to ESPN, Giannis will be eligible to sign a four-year, $293.4 million extension in the 2026 offseason with either the Bucks or with a new team, thus making the upcoming season the Bucks’ last chance to potentially trade the superstar.
Should Giannis decide to move on from the Milwaukee Bucks, the early contenders to land him are the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors.
