Tottenham set to pass up on Man City star Jack Grealish as the Lilywhites look at other alternatives instead
Tottenham need to act quick in the transfer window if they want to bolster their squad for next season. With pre-season already kicking off earlier this week, the Lilywhites are already lagging in their efforts to bring in quality players in time for Thomas Frank. The slow approach adopted by Daniel Levy has been frustrating for the fans, as other teams are getting on with their business quickly.
A lot of areas on the pitch need to be addressed if the North London club wants to build on the Europa League success next season. But the main priority should be given to the attacking line, as Thomas Frank looks to compete hard on all four fronts in his first season at N17. Many key attackers failed to step up when it mattered last season, costing the club some crucial wins in the Premier League.

Tottenham end their interest in Man City star Jack Grealish.
Club captain Heung-Min Son failed to perform consistently last season, and fans are worried that the 32-year-old’s form is steadily declining. Another attacker that followed Son’s path was Mathys Tel. The 20-year-old did not make an impact at N17 initially. But the Frenchman showed glimpses of his potential, and that earned him a full-time contract with the Lilywhites.
Tottenham set to snub the opportunity to sign Man City star Jack Grealish
With Heung-Min Son facing an uncertain future at N17, there is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bring in a new left-winger for next season. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites had looked at Man City star Jack Grealish. The England international is looking to get his career back on track after a dismal individual campaign under Pep Guardiola. The aforementioned report also stated that the Cityzens have set a £40m asking price for his services.
However, Ben Jacobs believes that Tottenham have decided to not pursue a deal for the 29-year-old. Speaking on talkSPORT, Jacobs said,
“Tottenham have discussed Grealish and, despite the fact that Mathys Tel has signed permanently… they could add another left-sided player too. Things are not advancing with Grealish at the moment.”
The reliable journalist added,
“The wage is a little bit of a stumbling block from Tottenham’s perspective, too. So, I don’t think they’re going to be in a position to bid for Jack Grealish just now, although they have held a conversation internally about that market opportunity.”
Ben Jacobs has suggested that Tottenham have looked at Jack Grealish as the club wants to sign a new left-winger. But the journalist adds that the Lilywhites are not advancing with the Man City star due to his high wage demands. Jacobs also suggests that Spurs cannot afford Grealish as of now, even though the North London club have held internal conversations about signing him in the summer.
It might just be a blessing in disguise for Tottenham if they miss out on Grealish’s signature. The ex-Villa star has looked like a shadow of himself in recent seasons. And it is fair to suggest that he is way past his best now. Plus, the high wage demands are also not accounted for as the Man City star is not consistent enough to repay the money Spurs will offer.

Daniel Levy should look at other alternatives now if the club wants to bring in a new attacker for next season. It was reported earlier that Spurs are interested in signing RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons in the summer. If the Dutchman is open to play in the Premier League, then the Lilywhites should do everything they can to land him quickly.
