Towards the end of June, Diogo Paiva put a personal message out explaining he was leaving Liverpool after just a year with the Premier League club.
The young coach had worked on technical skills with Arne Slot’s squad, and in his goodbye message to the club, he thanked the management team at Liverpool for understanding his reasoning for an exit.
That reasoning appears to have been a return to Portuguese football with FC Porto.
Record report Diogo Paiva is returning to Porto, where the 39-year-old previously worked between 2018 and 2024.
His role at the Portuguese club sounds like it may be a step up to that which he said at Liverpool and before his experience with the Merseyside club. Record describe it as “assistant and responsible for the individual development”.
Over at O Jogo they describe the role as individual player development and Diogo Paiva will have responsibilities from the youth teams all the way up to Porto’s senior squad.
