Ex-NBA player Ben McLemore sentenced to years in prison after being found guilty of rape

Former NBA player Ben McLemore has received his prison sentence after being found guilty of rape last week. McLemore has been sentenced to 100 months in prison, which is a little more than eight years, according to TMZ.

Last Thursday, the former top-10 NBA draft pick was found guilty of raping a woman at a party in Lake Oswego, Oregon in 2021.

McLemore, who was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, was found guilty of first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and second-degree sexual abuse.

McLemore was playing for the Portland Trail Blazers at the time of the incident. Portland is just a few miles away from Lake Oswego.

According to Fox 12, the victim said that she was too intoxicated to consent.

A former All-American at Kansas, McLemore spent time with the Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers over the course of his NBA career.

The St. Louis native averaged 9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1 assist per game across his nine seasons in the NBA. He shot 41.4 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from 3-point range for his career.

According to Fox 12, Ben McLemore denied the allegations in a statement.

“I did not rape this woman. I am not sexually abusive. I have never pursued a sexual relationship when I understood the woman was not interested in me and acting willingly,” he said.
