USA businessman John Textor has mentioned Sheffield Wednesday in the same breath as Man City following his reported interest in buying the Owls.
The end of the Dejphon Chansiri era at Sheffield Wednesday is in sight, with Danny Rohl returning to the club for pre-season.
Rohl’s return comes amid reports that a takeover at Sheffield Wednesday could be completed within weeks. Such has come about following pressure on Chansiri, who has since been more engaging with prospective buyers.
News of a potential takeover comes with plenty of optimism for Sheffield Wednesday fans, especially after a period of misery, with the Owls players and staff not being paid.
One man with an invested interest is reportedly John Textor, a US-based billionaire, who clearly thinks that Sheffield Wednesday should be an established Premier League club, based on what he has recently said about the club.

Sheffield Wednesday compared to Man City as John Textor makes ‘historic’ claim
Sheffield Wednesday are commonly referred to as a sleeping giant due to the fact that they haven’t reached the Premier League since their relegation in 2000. Under Dejphon Chansiri, they look nowhere near breaking that record, either.
However, talks of a takeover bring fresh optimism to S6, with one likely contender to gain control of Sheffield Wednesday referring to it as a ‘massive’ club with Premier League potential.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, John Textor said: “Sheffield Wednesday is the example of what is wrong with English football because they should still have a chance of winning a Championship every year, and they don’t.
“When they say ‘Manchester City had this historic win’, well no, they are not really historic when you have that kind of advantage.
“I would love to see the rules to allow Sheffield Wednesday to win the Premier League.”

Sheffield Wednesday need an owner that recognises the club’s vast potential
As potential successors to Dejphon Chansiri line up, Sheffield Wednesday supporters will be hoping that someone or a consortium can be found who recognises the potential that the club holds.
There will be plenty of work to do in order to get Hillsborough Stadium up to scratch for the upcoming season, as well as ensuring that it is in a fit state to house Sheffield Wednesday for years to come.
Once that is out of the way, there will be nothing stopping Sheffield Wednesday from excelling. They have a supportive and loyal fanbase who will pack out Hillsborough Stadium, something that, if partnered with an ambitious owner, would give the club the platform to eventually return to where it belongs.
