Arsenal fans have expressed their dissatisfaction at the club’s pursuit of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke with ‘#NoToMadueke’ trending on X.

The Gunners are looking to sign a winger this summer in order to add some much needed depth at the top of the pitch. They have been linked to several options, including Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, Rodrygo from Real Madrid, and Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

However, based on recent transfer reports, it seems as though the Gunners have settled on signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea. He is expected to cost around £52m, with personal terms already agreed between the 23-year-old and the Gunners.

How would Madueke fit into the Arsenal team

Perhaps the biggest question regarding Madueke coming to Arsenal, is more so where would he play? Pudit Micah Richards questioned this recently, as the 23-year-old is at his best on the right-wing, but there is no chance that he plays ahead of Saka.

So, either Mikel Arteta plans to play the Chelsea star on the left-hand side, and have him as competition for Gabriel Martinelli, or he is bringing him in simply as a backup to Saka, should the England international get injured.

If so, £50m plus is a lot of money to spend on a backup, when the Gunners already have the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, who plays his best football on the right. Only time will tell…
