Romano: West Ham Target Told he Can Leave |

**West Ham** have been alerted to the availability of Toulouse central defender Charlie Cresswell, following news that the Ligue 1 club are prepared to let the player leave.

The update came via football transfer insider [Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1943274172370616343), who posted on social media this afternoon that Cresswell is attracting Premier League interest.

The 22-year-old former Leeds United centre-back has impressed for Lee Carsley’s England U21 side, putting in a string of commanding displays during their European Championship run.

Cresswell was named as a West Ham target last week, and with Dinos Mavropanos potentially heading to Roma and Nayef Aguerd pushing hard for a move away, gaffer Graham Potter could soon find himself in need of defensive reinforcements.

The former Leeds academy graduate made his Premier League debut against West Ham back in September 2021, and has since gone on to make 33 appearances for Toulouse in France’s top flight.

Any transfer will also provide a financial boost for Leeds United, who are understood to have negotiated a 15% sell-on clause when the player was sold.

Cresswell fits the profile of player West Ham are now targeting—young, with top-level potential but tellingly is not the left footed centre back Potter is rumoured to be targeting.

That said, Cresswell looks to be an excellent player who looks to have leadership and personality which is something I think we desperately need.
