Leeds have had a slow start to the summer transfer window.

Four new players have arrived at Elland Road this summer, with Gabriel Gudmundsson the latest addition to Daniel Farke’s squad.

Earlier deals saw Jaka Bijol make the move, alongside Lukas Nemcha and Sebastian Bornauw, though the Whites still have a lot of work to do.

However, while Leeds have been deliberating over targets, Sunderland have splashed over £100million, leaving questions over the way the former have approached the window.

Leeds need to accelerate transfer plans

Surviving in the Premier League is a tough task, though it is the one that Leeds will have to overcome if they want to taste success this season.

Recruitment is going to play a crucial role in that, and Paul Robinson isn’t impressed with the way they have gone about their business so far, with the latest deal for Sean Longstaff seemingly falling through.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “It has been underwhelming. I think they’ve looked at previous promoted clubs, and it’s not the lack of goals scored, it’s the goals conceded that have been a problem, and you can see immediately that’s what they’re trying to strengthen.

“I think a lot of their recruitment is data-driven now. They look at players, and obviously there’s the manager’s test, there are a lot of people that sit around the table, they’ve got to pass the eye test as well, but I think a lot of it’s data-driven.

“I think the amount of players they’ve brought in for such a little fee, when we see Sunderland spending big, we see other teams spending big as well, £30million for that amount of players isn’t a lot of money.

*“They’re players that won’t be getting Leeds fans out of the chair getting excited about next season. It’s certainly bolstering the squad. They’re quality-proven players, but actually, I think as far as transfer business-wise goes, it’s been underwhelming so far.*“

Leeds have a lot of work to do

Despite the four additions, Leeds are yet to strengthen in the two areas that everyone had highlighted as a priority: striker and goalkeeper.

Of course, with around two months remaining in the window, there is still time to achieve that, though Farke will certainly want as many players through the door before pre-season enters full swing in order to have the most time to work with his squad.
