The granddaughter of late Italy and Cagliari great Gigi Riva on Thursday graduated from Cagliari University with a thesis on how her legendary grandfather always resisted the siren calls, and big money, of the northern Italian powerhouses like Juventus, Inter and AC Milan, sticking to an island he had grown to love.
The thesis of Virginia Alma Riva, the daughter of Riva's first-born so Nicola, was titled "Not Everything Has A Price: Marketing Between Ethics, Myth and Integrity".
Riva, nicknamed Rombo di Tuono (Thunderbolt) for his explosive left foot shot, died aged 79 in January last year.
