After a slow start to this summer’s transfer window, Arsenal have been busy in the market over the past couple of weeks.
The Gunners have now signed three players in recent weeks, with Christian Norgaard joining Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi at The Emirates.
Mikel Arteta’s side have finished second in the Premier League table in each of the past three seasons, and the ex-Gunners midfielder will want to see tis team once again challenge for the title next time around.
With that in mind, the North London outfit are eying a move for one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, and it appears that the player himself is doing everything he can to push the move through.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has informed his current club that he will not return to training amid interest from Arsenal.

The 27-year-old has been a target for the Gunners for much of the summer and the two clubs have been locked in negotiations for some time now.
Romano claims that both Arsenal and Sporting are currently standing firm on their respective valuations of the Swedish striker, with negotiations ongoing.
Gyokeres joined Sporting from Championship side Coventry City in 2023 and has since scored 97 goals in 102 matches for the Portuguese giants across all competitions, as well as providing 28 assists.
The Sweden international is contracted to Sporting until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but Romano suggests that the player has informed his current side that he is intent on a move to The Emirates.
Arsenal forwards Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz both struggled with injury and inconsistency last season, and it appears that those in charge of the club are now looking to bolster Arteta’s attacking options ahead of the upcoming campaign.
