David Ornstein has shared the latest on what he has heard about Alexander Isak’s future after reports the Newcastle United star is admired by Liverpool and Arsenal.
After another brilliant season, it comes as no surprise that the 25-year-old has his admirers across the Premier League and in Europe.
Alexander Isak was undoubtedly Newcastle United’s star player in the 2024/25 campaign, scoring 23 Premier League goals, which could only be bettered by Mohamed Salah. The Swede was also a big part of Newcastle’s historic Carabao Cup win, scoring in the final against Liverpool to end a 70-year wait for a domestic honour.
However, reports in June surfaced stating that Liverpool are interested in signing Isak this summer, with Darwin Nunez set to leave the Reds. Newcastle are not interested in selling Isak, even if a serious bid came in for him.
It is believed that Newcastle are looking for close to £200m for the striker, a fee which would be approaching the world record set by Neymar’s move to PSG in 2017.
With the transfer saga set to last the entire summer, David Ornstein has shared the latest on a possible deal for the Swede.

David Ornstein says Newcastle United want to keep Alexander Isak
Thankfully, Ornstein has good news for Newcastle fans, and it is that Eddie Howe has no interest whatsoever in selling Isak this summer.
Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan wants Newcastle to keep Isak and has urged Howe to build a team around their star. As well as his ability on the pitch, the Newcastle chief sees the commercial potential of Isak, who can help grow their stature outside of England.

Ornstein previously said that Newcastle would need a tremendous offer for Isak, and that still appears to be the case.
Speaking on the Back Pages Today podcast about Isak, Ornstein said: “The sale of Alexander Isak is not on the agenda for Newcastle. They want him to stay.
“They would love him to renew his contract. And so many clubs would, I’m sure, like to sign him.
“We know of Arsenal’s previous interest, Liverpool. I’m sure if the door was open, they would look to try and walk through it. But Newcastle don’t intend to open the door. And even if they ever could be tempted to, the price would be extortionate.
“Talk of sort of 150 million pounds. So let’s see what he wants to do. And when they return to preseason training and what his mindset is at.
“But for now, he’s definitely there to stay.”
Newcastle United are ready to break the wage structure for Alexander Isak
Despite the rumours of an exit, Newcastle are ready to hand Isak a new contract this summer. His current deal runs out in 2028, but a new deal would surely put any speculation about him leaving to bed.
Isak currently earns £120,000-a-week at Newcastle, but he has reportedly asked to become the club’s highest earner if he is to sign a new contract. That is something officials seem more than happy to oblige with.
Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle are fully prepared to break the wage structure for Isak in a deal which could make him the highest-paid player by a good margin.
With Paul Mitchell no longer at Newcastle, it has been confirmed that Howe will handle Isak’s contract negotiations. The 47-year-old will have a lot of experience handling deals thanks to his hands-on approach at Bournemouth.
