Manchester United have been told that transfer target Ardon Jashari is not available for a move this summer, regardless of the money involved. Club Brugge are said to have left their midfielder 'disappointed' that a move will not be considered despite interest from multiple clubs.

The Red Devils were set to have competition for the 22-year-old's signature from Serie A giants AC Milan. The Italian side were claimed to have tabled a €30million (£25.6m) bid for the player who was named the Jupiler Pro League's 2024/25 player of the season.

Brugge's CEO Bob Madou and sporting director Devy Rigaux have confirmed that they met with Milan to discuss the player but rejected the notion that talks over the money required for a deal took place.

Instead, the duo confirmed they were planning for Jashari to remain at the club. Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws they said that the player had been informed that that decision.

Madou said: "Is the matter deadlocked? We met with AC Milan. Out of politeness. And without mentioning money.

"Three hours without talking about money was a long time in this case. No, seriously – that matter is the elephant in the room. The elephant in the room. Everyone knows what Ardon has achieved, but we don't see this as the end of a cycle as far as he's concerned.

"I'm not saying we won't make exceptions, but there's no amount on the table today that I think would warrant it. You don't just walk out of Club Brugge. We assume he'll stay."

Rigaux added: "This is part of the summer transfer window. And it's not the first time I've experienced it. [Jose] Izquierdo, for example, wanted to leave at one point.

"You have to make sure players understand why you're denying them something. Is that obvious? No. Can't something like that be reversed? Not that either. We've made it very clear to Ardon what we expect from him."

Brugge are anticipating a future move to a big club and understand Jashari's disappointment. The Belgian side's chiefs clarified there had never been any promise of transfer for the midfielder.

"I understand he's disappointed, but it has to be right," said CEO Madou. "I'm convinced he'll make a move to an absolute top club, but today it doesn't feel right."

Sporting director Rigaux added: "That he was promised a transfer in exchange for a record fee? We never promise anyone a transfer.

"If there's a point where a player has reached the end of a cycle, and a top club makes a sufficient offer that confirms or exceeds the player's value at that time, then it will happen."
