Marc Guehi’s future is once again in the spotlight as Liverpool remain determined to bring the Crystal Palace center-back to Anfield.
The 24-year-old has become one of the most in-demand defenders in England, with Palace bracing for fresh offers before the window closes.
After an outstanding Euro 2024 campaign, his stock has never been higher.
Newcastle United, who chased Guehi aggressively last year with four substantial bids, now find themselves weighing whether to re-enter the race.
That hesitation has left Liverpool in pole position to strike a deal.

Crystal Palace values Guehi around $68 million (£50m).
Newcastle previously pushed offers as high as $88 million (£65m) before backing away when Palace refused to compromise.
Though Palace have reduced the price due to Guehi’s contract winding down, The Chronicle reports Newcastle have not made a fresh approach.
Eddie Howe and his recruitment team remain cautious, preferring to watch how the situation unfolds rather than jump back into negotiations.
That gives Liverpool a clear runway to push ahead.
Arne Slot wants a younger option to reinforce a defense in transition, especially with Ibrahima Konate in the final year of his contract and drawing interest from Real Madrid.
Guehi has indicated he is prepared to see out his contract if necessary.
Though Palace chairman Steve Parish has signaled they could still cash in at the right price (via BBC Sport):
“There’s a price and a situation where we might consider it. Somebody has got to pay superstar money.”
Chelsea also stand to benefit, with a 15% sell-on clause guaranteeing them a cut of any profit above the $24 million (£18m) they received in 2021.
