As Manchester United’s turbulent post-Ferguson era has continued, a long list of players have come and gone without leaving a lasting mark.

Axel Tuanzebe, who once showed great promise under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from 2019 to 2021, now sees himself as a Burnley player.

Meanwhile, Anthony Elanga – one of the rare positives during Ralf Rangnick’s brief interim spell during 2021/22 is nearing his switch to Newcastle United from Nottingham Forest.

Now, another recent Red – Sofyan Amrabat – could soon be on the move.

Turkish outlet Fanatik report that Atalanta are in negotiations to sign the Moroccan midfielder.

Fanatik state that Fenerbahce Director of Football Devin Ozek is currently in Italy for transfer talks.

Primarily regarding Milan Skriniar, but will also meet Atalanta officials to discuss Amrabat.

Amrabat, who joined the Red Devils under Erik ten Hag ahead of the 2023/24 season, failed to fully establish himself in United’s midfield.

He is also reportedly not a priority in Jose Mourinho’s plans at Fenerbahce, as per Fanatik’s report.

With Atalanta pushing to strike a deal below Fenerbahce’s €20m valuation, the Italian club may look to leverage Amrabat’s desire to reunite with former coach Ivan Juric to get the deal done.

Any move involving Amrabat could also influence Fenerbahce’s pursuit of Yves Bissouma.

Mourinho is keen on signing the Tottenham midfielder should Amrabat exit.

Amrabat’s arrival at United failed to have the impact many expected.

The Moroccan thrived on the International stage prior to his United move, where he impressed many with his tenacity and reading of the game in midfield.

However, he struggled to prove capable in United’s midfield where he played alongside the likes of Christian Eriksen and Kobbie Mainoo.
