**It has just gone 5 pm as I've started writing this piece, and as things stand, there has still been no official confirmation that Anthony Elanga has signed for Newcastle United.**
There are plenty of other signs that it's happening, though, not least the fact that he was spotted disembarking a plane at Newcastle Airport a couple of days ago.
Several reports have talked about his medical, and he's believed to have passed with flying colours, and it was just a case of putting the finishing touches on the paperwork.
Obviously, the club will have to do all of the promo work for the announcement, which will take a while, but some crafty little club insider has managed to leak a photo of Elanga meeting his new teammates inside the training ground dressing room.

The image could be photoshopped, but it's all we have right now, so we're going to believe it

Obviously, it's 2025, and you always have to take everything you see with a pinch of salt thanks to AI and Photoshop, but this does look pretty legit.
The shadows on the floor are what's throwing us off and making us lean towards it being photoshopped, but in lieu of an official announcement, we're going to just believe it's genuine anyway.
Hopefully, the club will confirm the deal soon. We wouldn't rule out an announcement tonight. It's hardly a secret at this point. We just want the club to put us out of our misery. Patience is not one of our virtues.
Let's hope Anthony Elanga will play against Celtic
--------------------------------------------------
Anthony Elanga will become Newcastle's second-most expensive signing behind Alexander Isak, either ahead of, or tied with Sandro Tonali, depending on whose price you go off with some outlets saying £55 million and others saying closer to £60m with add-ons.
We are now just hoping that he'll play a part in Newcastle's first pre-season friendly against Celtic a week on Saturday.
We've waited long enough for a new signing, don't make us wait to actually see one in action.
