David Moyes has secret tool next season at Everton with Thierno Barry’s ‘unexpected’ asset

Thierno Barry’s arrival has been welcomed greatly by Everton fans as a new striker era begins.

The Friedkin Group will be hoping their first big buy will be put to good use under David Moyes.

Barry arrives with real promise and looks to be the real deal as the striker Moyes has been screaming out for.

It’s been made clear by the 22-year-old that Barry hopes to replicate Romelu Lukaku at Everton.

Well, he certainly has a unique trait which could help him on this path, as Premier League defenders might have never experienced a forward like Barry.

It’s an exciting time for the Toffees, who have hopefully got a striker they can rely on.

But the overall squad now needs to be looked into, as Everton could sign Douglas Luiz for £30m.

Luiz’s creativity for Barry could come in handy, but the Frenchman does have the ability to make chances by himself.

That’s according to former Beveren coach Gunter Vandebroeck, who remembers Barry at a young age and how unique he truly is.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Belgian explained what Everton fans can expect from the striker, and it’s a promising sign.

“His positive impact on the team and the results was immediate. His unpredictability was his greatest asset,” Vandebroeck said.

“He could score at the most unexpected moments. He could score the most beautiful goals, but he also scored the ugly ones. A real goalscorer.”

New Everton striker Barry has one area to improve

With only positivity concerning the signing of the Frenchman, it’s only fair that fans know he’s still not the full package.

Barry described goal scoring as a ‘meal’, proving he’s eager for more as a striker, but with every young player, improvements are needed.

"[Goals] are my meal, my food." 🍽️

When at Villarreal, manager Marcelino made a claim about Barry, which shows he shouldn’t have needless pressure on him in his early Everton spell.

Speaking last September in a press conference, Marcelino said: “I think he’s a player with extraordinary abilities.

“He’s very young, many of the reserve team are older than him. He sometimes gets anxious about scoring; all he can think about is the goal.

“He needs a little more composure. He gives a lot to the team, he really conditions opponents.”

This just shows that despite his sizeable fee and high praise, Barry will need time, and soon the ‘unpredictability’ of the striker will shine through.
