Juventus ‘cool interest’ in Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo came very close to a deal with Juventus last January but eventually decided to stay and sign a new contract, but the fact his new deal included a reduced €65 million release clause until July 15 certainly kept the door open for a possible summer departure if the Italian giants came calling again.

Araujo himself [made it clear](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/7/9/24464340/ronald-araujo-gives-three-word-response-when-asked-if-hes-staying-at-barcelona) he wants to stay at Barça this summer, and that possibility got even stronger [thanks to a fresh report from _Diario SPORT_](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/nueva-juventus-enfria-interes-araujo-119480074) which claims that Juventus have “cooled their interest” in the Uruguayan due to changes in their technical structure.

Juve recently revamped their coaching staff and hired a new director of football who plans to rebuild the squad without any big-money transfers, focusing instead on promoting academy products and making smart, cheap signings of young prospects around Europe.

Araujo certainly doesn’t fit that new policy, and even a reduced €65 million transfer fee would be too rich for Juve’s blood if they are indeed looking to spend less on younger, less proven players.

There is still a chance another big club in Europe decides to pay the release clause between now and next Tuesday, but it looks as though Araujo won’t be leaving Barça this summer. Especially since his biggest admirers outside of the _Blaugrana_ seem to be giving up on that expensive dream.
