**Liverpool could look to complete a stunning move for a world-renowned attacking player this summer, according to a fresh claim from journalist Sacha Tavolieri.**
The Reds are yet to add to their forward line during the summer transfer window, even though Florian Wirtz’s availability allows him to do a job out wide, on top of his preferred No.10 role.
It would be a surprise if at least one new face doesn’t arrive in the final third, not only because of doubts over the futures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, but also due to the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
According to Tavolieri on [_X_](https://x.com/sachatavolieri/status/1942900460374900763), Liverpool “could move” for Madrid star Rodrygo this summer, should Diaz potentially head off to pastures new:
_“Luis Diaz’s situation could influence Liverpool’s approach in the market. While Rodrygo (as explained on Saturday) made Premier League his priority despite real Al Nassr approach, LFC could move for the Brazilian & compete w/Arsenal if they end up losing Diaz — whom they are keen to keep yet. One to watch.”_
**The latest superstar signing for Liverpool after Wirtz?**
-----------------------------------------------------------
The idea of Rodrygo playing for Liverpool is mouthwatering, considering he is among Europe’s most talented attacking players, with [Jude Bellingham](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6166917/2025/03/01/rodrygo-bellingham-versatile-star/) even calling him the most gifted footballer at Madrid currently:
_“Rodrygo, so underrated. For me he’s probably the most talented and most gifted player in the squad. The things he can do with the football – we’ll be messing around and he’ll flick the ball up somehow and you’re like, ‘How do you do that?’. I’m trying to do it, twisting up my ankles and everything like that. He’s a pleasure to play with.”_
Rodrygo would be an upgrade on Diaz, even though the Colombian is a top-quality player in his own right, and at 24, he is also four years younger.
It’s worth stressing that a move to Liverpool would be hard to get over the line, especially £116m has already been spent on Wirtz, but it is a signing that would make the Reds an even greater force if they got a deal over the line.
It will be interesting to see if things develop in the near future, with Diaz’s future at Anfield very much up in the air, as things stand.
