Nottingham Forest have made a new bid for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa after they agreed a deal to sell Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham, according to David Ornstein.
The Tricky Trees had been looking to strengthen their squad this summer after a successful 2024/25 campaign in which they finished 7th in the Premier League, qualifying for European football under Nuno Espirito Santo.
But after agreeing deals to lose both captain Gibbs-White and electric winger Anthony Elanga, they now must rebuild their forward line and have made a fresh move for an old target.
Nottingham Forest Make New Wissa Bid
Club had offer rejected in January and new offer below asking price
Brentford's Yoane Wissa
Wissa, who has been described as 'unbelievable', had a standout campaign in the top-flight for the Bees as he netted 19 Premier League goals last time out, becoming their all-time top scorer in the division in the process.
The DR Congo international is entering the final two years of his contract with the west London side and had been targeted by former manager Thomas Frank, who left to join Tottenham earlier this summer.
But now Forest are looking to beat Spurs to his signature by renewing their interest in the 28-year-old striker, as they have tabled a brand new bid following a failed attempt to sign him in January.
Forest had a bid worth around £25m rejected in the winter as Brentford didn't want to lose him mid-season. But Forest have now returned with a new bid, with a value that is lower than their bid in January as they try and get the deal over the line.
Brentford have rejected it though and set their asking price at £50m, as they don't want to lose him, Frank and Bryan Mbeumo in the same window, which could put a big hurdle in front of the move. It remains to be seen if they will return with another bid, but they have money to spend and now have a greater need to strengthen their attack.
