Callum Wilson has received a message from former Newcastle United teammate Bruno Guimaraes. It was confirmed this week that the Magpies striker will depart St James' Park after the expiry of his contract.
Wilson joined Newcastle in 2020, scoring 49 goals and registering 11 assists during 130 games for the club. Wilson's departure from the Magpies was confirmed after he rejected the club's offer of incentivised contract, and among the tributes sent to the striker on social media was one from Guimaraes as he insisted Wilson is 'gonna be missed'.
The Brazilian shared a post from the official club account on his Instagram story with the caption: "You (sic) gonna be missed bro @callumwilson all the best my bro."
After five years with Newcastle, the 33-year-old's time at Newcastle comes to an end. His final season was particularly injury-hit, as he was reduced to just 18 outings in the top-flight.

In a statement posted to social media, Wilson wrote: "To all you Magpies, it's time to say goodbye after an unbelievable few years at the Toon.
"Thank you for everything. We stood strong together through the highs and some lows to help the club experience new heights.
"I am so proud to have worn the iconic No. 9 shirt and to have added a little more history to it.
"Scoring at the Gallowgate end really is as special as they say.
"All good things come to an end, but there's no doubt Newcastle United will always have a place in mine and my families hearts."
Responding to the post on Instagram, Joe Willock wrote: "Definitely one of the best this club has seen . Going to miss you brother." Tino Livramento added: "Thank you for everything brother."
Joelinton wrote: "We will miss you boy." While Magpies legend Alan Shearer wrote: "Well done Callum and good luck going forward."
A report from The Athletic on Tuesday claimed that the England international is among the out-of-contract players to be offered to Manchester United as they hunt for a new striker this summer. United are looking for an out-and-out striker following the arrival of Matheus Cunha and their ongoing pursuit to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo - also a former transfer target for Newcastle.
It was claimed that Wilson was one of the three named free agents with Premier League experience to have their services offered to United - including former Everton talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jamie Vardy after his long-standing association with Leicester City ended.
However, The Athletic added that United would only advance on avenues in the free market towards the end of the window if they do not get their top targets, if at all.
