"Per a source, the Knicks are monitoring the situation with Marcus Smart."
Smart, 31, is on an expiring $21.6 million contract. The former No. 6 overall pick averaged 9.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 34 games last season with the Grizzlies and Wizards.
An 11-year NBA veteran, Smart was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 and has earned three NBA All-Defensive First Team honors (2019, 2020, 2022).
