'I was going to offer my services': Callum Wilson jokes about moving to Chelsea with Enzo…

Newcastle United's former number nine, Callum Wilson, confirmed his departure from the club on Monday after weeks of speculation.

Callum Wilson appeared to say goodbye to the Newcastle fans on the final day of the season, tearing up as he waved to the St James' Park crowd.

However, it was soon reported that Newcastle had offered Wilson a new contract, albeit on reduced terms and on a pay-as-you-play basis, and as his contract expiry date passed without comment, there was a feeling he could be sticking around.

A week later, we finally got confirmation that the 33-year-old had opted to move on to find first-team football.

Callum Wilson was ready to offer his services to Enzo Maresca

Meanwhile, Wilson is part of DAZN's pundit lineup for the Club World Cup, where Chelsea have played their way into the final thanks to two stunning João Pedro goals against his former side Fluminense, giving Newcastle fans that little stabbing pain of regret after missing out on the striker earlier in the summer.

As part of his broadcast duties, Wilson got the chance to chat with Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, joking that he was going to offer his services now that he's without a club (h/t Newcastle World).

"Enzo, I was going to offer my services, but it seems like you don't need them now Joao is there!"

Callum Wilson shouldn't rule out a move to Chelsea

Wilson shouldn't rule out a move to Chelsea, after all, he's still breathing, and that's all it takes for Chelsea to be interested these days.

Callum Wilson has been linked with a move to Leeds all summer, and Burnley's name has also popped up as the forward claims he's not ready to hang up his boots yet.

“I mean, obviously, I have ambitions, I'm close to getting 100 goals and that's something I'd like to achieve. I still feel fit and hungry."

Fingers crossed he hits triple digits. The man deserves it, and after a rough few years with injuries, he's due some positivity.
