**West Ham** have tonight confirmed where manager Graham Potter wants to spend the money from the sale of [Mohammed Kudus](https://www.claretandhugh.info/mohammed-kudus-bio/) to Tottenham.
Following the revelation that Potter did not view Kudus as a No10 in the Premier League, [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/category/news/) sought clarification from a London Stadium source regarding the club’s transfer priorities.
It was made clear that utilising Kudus on the left side of the Hammers’ attack was never an option for next season. As such, Potter sanctioned the sale to raise funds for a player more suited to his tactical setup.
When we asked whether Kudus’ lack of suitability for the central attacking role meant the Hammers were targeting a creative passer, a top insider confirmed:
“Yes, that’s what we want to do. But then we have to try and get some midfielders out. We have too many.”
It’s understood that West Ham are actively seeking a second midfielder, with an emphasis on adding energy and creativity to the often statuesque engine room.
No names were mentioned during the conversation, but it’s clear the club are keen to move on high earner Guido Rodríguez to free up space on the wage bill.
Edson Alvarez is still very much for sale as is James Ward Prowse and Tomas Soucek but with Freddie Potts, Lewis Orford and Andy Irving all ready for pre-season, something will have to give.
