Graham Potter has endured a difficult start to life at West Ham.

The Englishman came in as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui after what had been a frustrating spell under the Spaniard.

This came as a surprise given the positivity behind the prior transfer window that had seen excitement and anticipation grow at the London Stadium.

It is fair to say that the atmosphere is completely different around E20 this summer as frustration continues to build for Potter and Irons fans.

Potter transfer frustration emerges at West Ham

After such a frustrating end to last campaign, it certainly felt as if the Hammers had to have a proactive start to this window.

That hasn’t been the case, and instead, a number of signings have been missed out on, with other sides strengthening and pulling away from the claret and blue outfit.

This was seen as Angel Gomes opted to join Marseille instead of West Ham, in what appeared to be a major blow to the East Londoners.

Since then, no other move edged close, with Sunderland truly showing how it is done when it comes to transfers, a surprise given their play-off promotion.

With that being said, former Brentford and Leicester City boss Martin Allen believes Potter will be frustrated, but must remain patient through the summer.

“It is going to be frustrating for Potter,” Allen exclusively told West Ham Zone.

“He’s got to see it through and keep his spine and backbone, do his best and convince top players to come in.

“Players have seen the decline in performance and quality of the squad, so they will be sceptical about a move, you can’t hide from that fact.

“There will be players who will trust Potter, he will have to convince them of the project and the fact that other signings will be coming.

“*Hopefully, this can help West Ham have a better season than they did last year.*“

Potter must remain patient for West Ham signings

It does feel as if now the window is finally getting up and running in E20 as Mohammed Kudus edges closer to a Tottenham switch.

The funds recouped from that sale could prove to be the perfect way to kickstart a rebuild after such a frustrating year in the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see who comes in and whether Potter can keep hold of the likes of Lucas Paqueta, moving closer to the new campaign.
