The Oklahoma City Thunder have been busy locking in their core for the foreseeable future this offseason as they already signed both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren to contract extensions.
That left Jalen Williams as the only piece of their core left to sign an extension with the franchise but that is no longer the case as the two sides agreed to an extension on Thursday afternoon.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Thunder and Williams have agreed to a five-year maximum rookie contract extension that could reach $287 million.
This is a massive move by the Thunder as they now have their top three players locked in for the foreseeable future as they try to compete for more championships after capping off their dominant season last year with a title.

For Williams, this is a massive payday but one that was well-deserved after he continued to improve his game last season.
Last season, the 24-year-old forward averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 48.4% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range.
Williams was also named an All-Star for the first time last season and also was named to the All-NBA Third Team along with the All-Defensive Second Team.

The star forward has continued to improve every season of his career thus far and there are no signs of him slowing down as he has proven to be a key piece of the Thunder for years to come alongside Shai and Holmgren.
With their three star players now locked into contracts, Oklahoma City will look to continue their dominance from last season as they try to start their own dynasty.
