Ollie Watkins has reacted to Mason Mount’s social media post after his return to pre-season training with Manchester United.

With signing a striker among the priorities, Watkins has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, but is just one of several potential targets to have been mentioned. However, the 29-year-old has also reportedly been subject of interest from Newcastle United this summer.

This week, The Mail reported that Newcastle had entered the race to sign Watkins as they search for a new attacking option. United has already missed out on the signing of Liam Delap who chose to join Chelsea instead.

Amid speculation surrounding the Aston Villa striker's future, Watkins has 'liked' an Instagram post from Mount. The United midfielder shared several captionless photos from his return to training on the platform.

Mount saw his campaign last season disrupted by injury, first picking up a setback in December against Manchester City in the Manchester derby and he was sidelined until mid-March. He later made his first start of 2025 against Brentford in May.

In addition to Watkins, Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha were spotted in the comments.

The Reds captain simply responded with a GiF of young David Beckham during his days at the club - potentially referencing Mount's No.7 squad number.

Cunha on the other hand, replied with the index pointing, love heart and fire emojis. The Brazilian completed a £62.5million move to Old Trafford from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
