Roma are preparing to open talks with a former Manchester United target amid their unlikely pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Rasmus Hojlund’s future at Manchester United has been in doubt in recent weeks after the Danish forward’s disappointing second full season at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old United striker netted 10 times and added four assists to his name in 52 matches for the Red Devils across all competitions in the 2024-25 season.
Hojlund has been linked with Inter Milan this summer and Serie A outfit Roma have also been tipped to challenge their Italian rivals in the race to sign the United striker.
The Denmark international is under contract with United until 2028 and Ruben Amorim is expected to bring a new striker to the Red Devils this summer.
Ruben Amorim was left frustrated in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign after the struggles of both Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as the lone striker in his system.

Roma will now turn their attention away from Rasmus Hojlund and will try to sign a former Man Utd target
Rasmus Hojlund has ruled out a transfer from Manchester United and he said in June that he was “dedicated to the project” that was in place under Ruben Amorim.
According to Sky Sports (via TV 2), the United striker dismissed the idea that a move away from Old Trafford could happen amid Inter Milan’s interest in Hojlund.
Roma are expected to bolster their attacking options this summer and the Italian side are now linked with former Premier League wonderkid Evan Ferguson.
Evan Ferguson was loaned out to West Ham in the January window for the second half of the Premier League season before returning to Brighton this summer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Roma will ‘open talks’ with Ferguson after his spell at West Ham ended and will try to loan him out from Brighton this summer.
The Italian newspaper claims Roma want to take the 20-year-old Brighton talent out on a season-long loan for the 2025-26 campaign, with a view to buy next summer.

Evan Ferguson’s price tag at Brighton and Roma’s transfer stance on Man Utd striker Rasmus Hojlund
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma would have a buy option of around £21m to £26m for former United target Evan Ferguson if they signed him.
Roma target Ferguson was heavily linked with United in the past when former Ajax and Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag was in the Old Trafford dugout.
According to FourFourTwo magazine in 2024, Brighton had reportedly put a £120m valuation on Ferguson amid United’s transfer interest at the time in the striker.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Roma have not ruled out a move for Hojlund this summer, but it is dependent on strengthening other areas of the team first.
