Aston Villa are expected to sign Stade Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot.

The 34-year-old is set to replace Robin Olsen, who left the club at the end of June following the expiry of his contract.

Bizot will arrive with a wealth of experience and proven quality, having kept the third-most clean sheets in Ligue 1 last season.

He also started nine of Brest's 10 Champions League fixtures during the campaign.

His 13 clean sheets helped Brest secure a third-place finish in Ligue 1 in 2023/24, before recording 10 clean sheets last term.

Bizot joined Brest in 2021 and has made 148 appearances for the club—just 16 short of the 164 he made for AZ Alkmaar in all competitions.

The Dutch 'keeper moved to Brest for a modest fee, having joined AZ on a free transfer from KRC Genk in 2017.

Bizot has made one international appearance for the Netherlands and was last called up to the national team in March 2024.

He would become Villa's second summer arrival after free agent Zepiqueno Redmond.

Villa could still be in the market for another goalkeeper this summer, amid growing uncertainty over Emi Martínez’s future.

The Argentina number one is understood to be open to a new challenge, while Villa also need to reduce their wage bill.

After breaching UEFA’s squad cost rules in 2024, the club has agreed with UEFA to cut wage expenses by nearly 20 percent by the end of the next summer transfer window.
