Arsenal ready to "formally discuss" move to sign 25-G/A attacker - Ben Jacobs

Arsenal are likely to bolster their forward department with multiple signings this summer.

A marquee striker is the priority target, but the club are open to strengthening other attacking positions too.

Journalist Ben Jacobs now reports that the Gunners are ‘expected’ to approach Crystal Palace to ‘formally discuss’ a deal to sign Eberechi Eze.

Arsenal have already held positive talks with the player’s camp. Their pursuit of Eze is separate from talks to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

Eze would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal

The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Eagles over the past few years. Last season was probably his best with 14 goals and 11 assists from 43 appearances.

The England international made the headlines with the FA Cup winning goal against Manchester City, and could be prepared to pursue a bigger challenge in the prime of his career.

Eze was previously released from the Gunners academy at just 13, and the opportunity to redeem himself at the north London giants should be a tempting prospect for him.

He would be a fantastic acquisition, considering he can operate in various roles. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play on the left wing or in the number eight position.

Eze would provide something different in the Gunners’ attack, considering he has a left-sided bias compared to Martin Odegaard’s right-sided preference. He is a terrific dribbler too.

The attacker would provide good competition for places, but a deal could depend on Palace accepting a reduced package than his £68 million release clause, payable in three instalments.

Arsenal are considering including a player as a makeweight to sign Eze. A move could be on the cards if Palace accept such a proposal, with the fees being paid over multiple seasons.
