The Denver Broncos and quarterback Bo Nix were one of the best stories from the 2024 season. Despite not being hyped up as a contender early in the year, the Broncos made a run to the playoffs behind their rookie quarterback.
Entering year two, Nix and Denver want more.
Making the playoffs is the first step, but they want to make a run in the playoffs. Looking at the roster, there is enough talent to make that happen. However, there is still a need that should be addressed.
While the offense should be good, the Broncos could use some help at wide receiver. Courtland Sutton is a really good wide receiver, but behind him Denver has Marvin Mims Jr. and Troy Franklin as two of the other threats on the roster.
Adding another wide receiver would have been wise. There are still some options available that the Broncos could consider bringing in.
ESPN's Seth Walder recently took a look at Denver's offseason. He gave the overall body of work an A-, but he did note that the Broncos should pursue another wide receiver. Walder also named two players the team could target.
"I wanted to see the Broncos do more at receiver. Besides counting on Courtland Sutton and Engram, they are likely hoping for Marvin Mims Jr. or Troy Franklin to break out," Walder wrote. "Perhaps they'll end up making a move for another veteran -- maybe Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper?"
Either Allen or Cooper would be a nice addition to the Denver offense. They would provide Nix with a proven veteran wide receiver to target along with Sutton and tight end Evan Engram.
Allen put together a strong season in 2024 with the Chicago Bears. He caught 70 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.
Cooper, on the other hand, did not have as good of a year. He played with both the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills, totaling 44 catches for 547 yards and four touchdowns.
Both veteran wide receivers are aging and entering their final stages in the NFL. However, in the Broncos' offense, they could have a good year in 2025.
Neither player would break the bank for Denver. They're both options worth looking into in order to support Nix more.
It will be interesting to see if the Broncos decided to invest into their offense by adding either Allen or Cooper, or if they look into other options. Sean Payton and company might also be comfortable with what they have. Fans will just have to wait and see.
