Arsenal have secured a major coup in the transfer market, finalising a deal to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke for a fee exceeding £50 million, including add-ons, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X on July 10, 2025.

The 23-year-old England international, who has agreed a five-year contract with the Gunners, is set to undergo a medical and finalise his move to the Emirates, marking a significant step in Mikel Arteta’s squad overhaul.

Noni Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for £28.5 million, scored 20 goals and provided nine assists in 91 appearances, including a Europa Conference League final brace last season.

Despite his contributions, Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca indicated Noni Madueke was “free to go” if unhappy, with the Blues’ signings of Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens intensifying competition.

Arsenal capitalised, with Romano noting that Madueke’s camp agreed on all contract details, maintaining his current salary structure.

The Gunners, who have already signed Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi this window, see Noni Madueke as a versatile winger to challenge Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

His ability to play on either flank, coupled with Arteta’s approval, makes him a strategic fit. However, pundit Micah Richards questioned his role, noting Saka’s dominance on the right, suggesting Madueke may serve as a high-quality squad option.

Arsenal’s initial £50 million bid, including add-ons, fell short of Chelsea’s demand for a higher fixed fee, but a verbal agreement in principle for £55 million sealed the deal.

This move, separate from Arsenal’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze, underscores their ambition to bolster their attack after a trophyless 2024/25 season. With negotiations progressing swiftly, Madueke’s arrival signals Arsenal’s intent to compete for major honours.
