Jaxson Dart Leaves NY Giants’ West Coast Training Early for QB Camp

Before training camp, Russell Wilson and many members of the New York Giants are out in San Diego putting some work in.

Several other quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends have made the trip. The list of travelers is extensive, according to NorthJersey.com's Art Stapleton.

From the quarterback clan, Wilson, Jaxson Dart, and Jameis Winston are in attendance.

Tyrone Tracy and Turbo Miller are the two running backs.

Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Zach Pascal, Montrell Washington, Dalen Cambre, Beaux Collins, and Juice Wells are the wideouts there.

Daniel Bellinger, Theo Johnson, Chris Manhertz, and Greg Dulcich are the four tight ends in attendance.

While Dart was around for most of the trip, it was revealed the rookie parted ways early. The former Ole Miss star was set to host a QB camp for the youth on Thursday.

Although Dart left early, trip should still be beneficial for the team in several ways. Not only are the players running through routes while the passers do their thing, but the players have been doing off-field activities together as well. Earlier this week, Russell Wilson revealed he attended the San Diego Padres game.

As for on the field, the Giants should feel good about Russell Wilson getting reps with his new wideouts, especially the star, Malik Nabers.

Throughout the offseason, Nabers has been dealing with a minor setback. Although the Giants weren't terribly concerned about it, they wanted to be cautious. Therefore, he was held out from OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Barring any setbacks from here on out, Nabers is expected to be back on the field for training camp.

It's no secret that Nabers will be key to Wilson's success in New York. Although Wilson reportedly did a great job growing chemistry with multiple receivers, especially the minicamp standout Jalin Hyatt, Nabers will undoubtedly be the top target when training camp and the regular season rolls around.

Even with inconsistency under center last season, Nabers was able to thrive within the Giants' offense. Landing in New York as the sixth-overall pick after three seasons at LSU, Nabers had to play with a handful of quarterbacks throughout his rookie season.

Throughout 15 games, Nabers caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards. He scored seven touchdowns.

Wilson recently publicly claimed that Nabers was a primary reason why he signed with the Giants after his lone season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Soon, the NFL will see if they can pose a threat in a tough NFC East Division in the fall.
