Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James is appearing in his second NBA Summer League in as many years. After being selected No. 55 overall in last year's draft, the former USC guard is looking to build out a role in LA's rotation this season.
In his rookie season for LA, James made 27 appearances at the NBA level, averaging 2.7 points in 6.7 minutes per game.
Getting the start for Thursday's game against the Dallas Mavericks and No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, James wasted no time showing what he is capable of. Striking early with a personal 5-0 run, James looked like one of the more advanced players on the court for LA.

As previously mentioned, this game also featured the professional debut of Flagg, who went No. 1 overall to Dallas in this past NBA Draft. The former Duke star enters the league with hype few others have come in with. All eyes were on the matchup of he and James early on.
In addition to hitting a couple shots over Flagg, James nearly locked him up for an entire defensive possession. Unfortunately for the Lakers guard, the official called a foul, which left James in disbelief.
Standing there with his jaw dropped, James could not believe the official whistled him for a foul after what he felt was good defense.
In recent weeks, ESPN regularly featured these two young players to promote this Summer League contest. It was announced weeks ago that Flagg's professional debut would come against James and the Lakers, and fans have been awaiting this night ever since.
