Real Madrid star shows frustration on how La Liga treats its players

Real Madrid just landed in Madrid after the exit from the Club World Cup at the hands of PSG. It will now take more than a month’s wait for fans to witness Los Blancos brace the field again, hopefully with better performances.

The involvement in the new Club World Cup has cut short the post-season rest for all the players involved. It has also disrupted the league schedules that are to follow.

And La Liga president Javier Tebas has been extremely vocal about the situation, which he terms with every negative connotation there is.

Tebas called the Club World Cup an absolute disaster and pointed to the fact that ticket prices have dropped in major knockout games to highlight the supposed failure of the new tournament.

Anyway, owing to the additional competition, Real Madrid had requested La Liga to postpone their opening game against Osasuna, which is currently scheduled for 20th August.

But La Liga did not allow that, citing that they see no reason why there is a need to do so.

Thibaut Courtois lashes out at Tebas for rigidity in La Liga

In all of this development, Real Madrid goalkeeper and veteran Thibaut Courtois was having none of it. The player is known for his blunt interactions with the media, and this time too, he gave some hot words to Tebas.

The Belgian said, “What happens with LaLiga is always the same. For me, hearing those comments from a president... I've never seen any president in England or Italy speak like that. You can't expect to leave us without a vacation. We've played in a World Cup, which is a beautiful tournament, and no one has a problem playing so many games, but we have to rest.”

These words, in my opinion, reflect the true opinion of many La Liga clubs and players towards Javier Tebas and his management of the league.

It is a well-established fact that Tebas often delivers some dreadful comments and opinions that make no sense. And although his opinion on the Club World Cup is justified on his part as a personal opinion, there’s little sense in denying more time for players to rest.

Javier Tebas will remain in office as La Liga president till 2027, having been elected the last time in 2023. The problems with him increase, and the stance of Real Madrid and other major clubs is not known yet, at least officially.
