Leeds United face fresh Sunderland transfer 'hijack' as goalkeeper decision 'made'

Leeds United have missed out on a number of transfer targets this summer and have been forced to watch Premier League rivals Sunderland splash the cash.

The Black Cats added more firepower to their squad on Thursday with Simon Adingra signing from Brighton. The Whites have been busy themselves but fans will be eager to see more business over the next few weeks.

As new names continue to be tipped with a move to Elland Road, LeedsLive has taken a look at the latest transfer news...

New goalkeeper target

Leeds United have set Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri as their top choice goalkeeper target this summer, according to Marco Giordano.

The Whites remain in the market for a new number one and have been linked with a host of replacements for Illan Meslier. The journalist has claimed that Perri, 27, is the number one choice with him expected to cost around £12.9million.

Giordano has also claimed that Vanja Milinkovic-Savic is the subject of negotiations between Napoli and Torino.

LeedsLive: "Perri would be a smart signing for Leeds. At £12.8m, you're not getting a goalkeeper with top-flight experience who has a decent track record.

"Now that Lyon's ongoing dispute with their relegation has been cleared up, focus will not go on offloading players to balance the books. The Whites should be all over this to avoid spending too much on a new goalkeeper."

Sunderland threaten new hijack

Sunderland have signed two players Leeds have been linked with this summer with Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki moving to the Stadium of Light. Now, Takvim has reported that both teams are interested in Jeremie Boga.

Turkish side Trabzonspor are also pushing for his signature with them said to have made a bid believed to be in the region of £7m-£7.75m. Leeds are said to have also made a bid for the former Chelsea star.

LeedsLive: "It's expected that Leeds will be looking at Sunderland's transfer business in envy. They completed the signing of Adingra on Thursday after already splashing the cash on Diarra and Sadiki.

"Boga won't cost as much as those two but his versatility would be key for Leeds. Trabzonspor doesn't have European football to offer meaning a move to the Premier League may be more attractive."
