After Rhian Brewster’s contract came to its end at Sheffield United, the next potential move for the former Liverpool man has become clearer.
Rhian Brewster endured a five-year spell at Sheffield United after joining the club from Liverpool.
After struggling to make an impact in the Premier League for the Blades, inconsistency with game time then followed, leading to Brewster often struggling at Bramall Lane.
He had a mini-resurgence, however, in his final season at the club, notably treating Blades fans to a historic win away at Sheffield Wednesday after bagging the winning goal at Hillsborough Stadium.
A late flurry at Sheffield United appears to have increased his stock, with Brewster’s next potential move suggested amid interest from Middlesbrough.

Rhian Brewster’s next potential move following Sheffield United exit
EFL Analysis’ Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Rhian Brewster has both Premier League and Championship clubs Burnley and Middlesbrough, lined up to potentially sign the former Liverpool man on a free ahead of the 2025/26 season.
“I think he’s on the list for a good half a dozen clubs,” said Bailey. But he’s not a first choice for anyone at the minute.
“Obviously he’s going to get a good move, but it’s not really progressing very much at the moment. There is interest in him. He will get a new club. He does have a lot of interest in him, but it’s just not really on the brink of being done.”
Whilst Brewster’s exit at Sheffield United is not confirmed, Bailey commented further that he is unlikely to be offered new terms at the club.
“They have Tom Cannon, and a few other players have stuck around.
“Brewster was on a big deal there, so if he was going to stay he would have to take a wage reduction; though he will probably have to do that wherever he goes next.”

Rhian Brewster’s stats at Sheffield United
During Rhian Brewster’s stint at Sheffield United, the Liverpudlian bagged nine goals in all competitions, eight of which fell in the Championship.
Of all the difficult seasons in red & white, the most recent 2024/25 Championship campaign showcased the best of Brewster, having scored four goals and notched three assists in the regular league season.
Brewster played a prominent role for Chris Wilder’s side from off the bench, and there is every chance that the improvements he underwent this season will hold him in good stead for wherever he ends up next.
A Championship move will likely be the next destination for Brewster as he looks to further prove his quality at this level.
