Anthony Elanga was shocked to find out that Anthony Gordon is not the fastest player at Newcastle United just before completing his £55m deal with the Magpies.
Fans are delighted to see that transfer business is being done on Tyneside, and it is only a matter of time before Anthony Elanga is confirmed as a Newcastle United player.
The winger, who agreed personal terms ahead of a £55million move to Tyneside, is reportedly very excited about working with Eddie Howe and linking up with fellow Swede Alexander Isak.
Elanga and Howe have already had discussions about plans at Newcastle, with the pair agreeing on a scope for improvement once he joins first-team training. The 23-year-old will likely be a big part of Newcastle’s first-team squad from the get-go, though it does mean that Jacob Murphy will lose his place in the starting XI.
A big quality of Elanga’s is his pace. The winger has publicly backed himself to be one of the fastest players in the Premier League, a feat which Howe will love for his fast attacking style of football.
Murphy thinks William Osula is lightning fast, while Anthony Gordon has also been commended for his pace. However, Elanga was shocked to learn that neither of them appears to be Newcastle’s fastest player.

Anthony Elanga was shocked at Newcastle United’s fastest player
Elanga will likely become Newcastle’s fastest player upon joining the club, but in the meantime, Sky Sports believes that honour goes to Tino Livramento.
The full-back is not particularly known for his rapid pace, but they have put him down as the fastest player at the club. Livramento was commended for his versatility in the latter stages of the 2024/25 campaign. Howe moved him to left-back after Lewis Hall suffered a season-ending injury just before the Carabao Cup final.

Despite his sensational performances, Livramento was snubbed by Thomas Tuchel but made up for it with a fantastic European Championship campaign with England’s Under-21s.
In a short video post by Sky Sports, Elanga was tasked with guessing the fastest player at each club. When it came to Newcastle, Elanga picked Gordon, but was baffled when he found it was Livramento.
With a shocked look on his face, Elanga said: “Tino?!”.
Anthony Elanga’s terrifying speed as Newcastle United set to announce £55m deal
With a front three of Gordon, Isak and Elanga, Newcastle will have one of the fastest attacks in the Premier League next season. The trio will surely strike fear into any defence they come up against.
The move gives Howe a young winger who can go on to be a massive success on Tyneside if he carries on the form that he showed in his two seasons at Forest.
While his pace has been noted, there are other factors to that part of his game which is absolutely terrifying for defenders.
In a new report from The Athletic, Elanga was listed as the third fastest player in the Premier League, clocking in an impressive 36.66km/h. Additionally, Elanga made a total of 730 sprints last season, the seventh highest, with Gordon in fifth.
Elsewhere, Elanga spent 1.11% of time sprinting in Premier League games last season, third highest with Gordon just ahead of him. Newcastle’s pace in attack will be frightening next season, and fans cannot wait to see it.
