Update emerges on Hull City chase for Aston Villa ace as Sheffield United lurk

Hull City remain hopeful they can sign Aston Villa forward Louie Barry despite an early deal failing and financial issues hitting, as per Graeme Bailey.

Hull City have been on a rollercoaster under the ownership of Acun Ilicali, almost reaching the play-offs and enduring a close scare with relegation. HCAFC fans are longing for some stability, but that doesn’t look set to come any time soon.

The Tigers have been placed under a transfer embargo owing to outstanding debts, sparking fears over the club’s financial situation and future business under Ilicali.

Amid such issues, it emerged that a deal for Louie Barry had fallen through. The Championship side backed out amid issues over the finances of a deal, though it seems the hope of getting him through the door has not been dashed yet.

Reporting for EFL Analysis, Graeme Bailey has claimed that Hull City retain hope that Barry can make a permanent move to the MKM Stadium before the window’s end.

There is said to be ‘confidence’ over the financial situation at HCAFC despite their problems, and should punishments be reduced, they intend on going back in for Barry,

The saga could be a summer-long one though, and with Championship rivals Sheffield United – led by former boss Ruben Selles – also keen, the 22-year-old does have other options.

Hull City most focus on stability before raising hopes over Barry deal

If one thing can be said about Ilicali, it is that he is highly ambitious. He has regularly spoken of his visions for Hull City, even if some may feel they are a little far-fetched.

Their financial issues won’t help the Turkish businessman’s bid to convince fans and neutrals alike they they can come good on these big goals.

Retaining hope of signing Barry is a good sign, but HCAFC chiefs must ensure they don’t get ahead of themselves when it comes to finances. They must priories stability before ambition, otherwise they could dig themselves into a hole they can’t get out of.

Will Barry wait for the Tigers?

Sheffield United are named alongside Hull City as admirers of Barry, but it is highly unlikely that they are the only two clubs keen on the forward.

Barry’s stock perhaps isn’t as high as it was in January given his injury-hit time at HCAFC over the second half of last season, but his stunning form at Stockport County displayed just how good he can be at his best.

That talent is something clubs will want in their ranks, and if Hull City can’t get their house in order, it seems probable that Barry is presented with tempting options elsewhere.
