Guido Rodriguez’s time in East London could soon be coming to an end as West Ham United look to fund some transfers of their own.

Rodriguez was signed on a free from Real Betis last season, but just like many of the new signings recently, things didn’t work out for the World Cup winner.

The midfielder has endured injury struggles during his spell at West Ham and lost his place in the starting eleven under Graham Potter.

Clubs in South America are reportedly keen on the 31-year-old, with David Sullivan now forced to make a decision on the Argentine.

West Ham to decide on Rodriguez’s future with South American clubs keen

So far, West Ham have yet to bring any new faces to East London as they battle to avoid breaking Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Focus for the Hammers has instead been on gathering funds from player sales to ensure that they can make incomings this summer.

According to South American media outlet am (10 July), Mexican clubs América and Tigres are seriously interested in Rodriguez, and have already reached out.

The report adds that the rival sides are not afraid to splash out, but the Argentine intends to continue and fight for his place with the Irons.

The midfielder has already played in South America before and now appears to want to continue in the Premier League, despite being dropped towards the end of last season.

Sullivan now faces a difficult decision over whether to force the player out of the club or to let him stay at the club.

In this case, it is likely to be the former as the Hammers look to right the wrongs of last season’s transfers.

West Ham must sell Rodriguez

Last season’s transfers were rash from Sullivan.

West Ham signed an ageing Fullkrug, who was never going to be worth the money due to his declining ability and lack of versatility.

Rodriguez is in that same boat.

He has shown that he can’t adapt to suit Potter’s style and the Hammers must now bring in players that fit the West Ham bosses’ system; otherwise, the Irons are in trouble next season.
