How much Man United are set to receive from Maxi Oyedele sell-on clause, £5.2m transfer now imminent

Manchester United are set to receive cash from two sell-on clauses, and a third may now be in the pipeline.

Missing out on Champions League football means Manchester United are working on a tight budget this summer.

Matheus Cunha joined United earlier in the summer, but the deal has been structured to pay his release clause in three instalments over two years.

Ineos are having to get creative, and every little helps as United continue to chase Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

United will earn cash from Anthony Elanga’s move to Newcastle United, with the Nottingham Forest winger poised to complete his move to Tyneside.

Alvaro Fernandez is set to join Real Madrid, with United again benefiting from a sell-on clause inserted into his Benfica move last summer.

Manchester United sell-on clause for Maxi Oyedele

United stand to earn more than £10million across those two clauses, but a third could now be activated.

Meczyki in Poland report that former United talent Maxi Oyedele is set to leave Legia Warsaw for French side Strasbourg.

Shakhtar Donetsk looked into signing Oyedele, but he is instead poised to join Strasbourg.

Oyedele’s €6million (£5.2million) release clause will be paid by Strasbourg and a deal is thought to be close.

United sold Oyedele to Legia for just £500,000, but inserted a hefty 40% sell-on clause into the deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

If that clause is on the total fee rather than just profit, United will take just shy of £2.1million from the move.

That would go down to just below £1.9million if only based on the profit Legia make, but it’s another decent chunk of cash for United and could take the total income from sell-on clauses to around £15million.

Maxi Oyedele has kicked on in Poland

Oyedele spent 12 years in the United ranks, having joined from Burnley in 2012.

The Salford-born talent featured on loan at Altrincham and Forest Green Rovers before being sold by United last summer.

Oyedele failed to make a first-team appearance at United, but has really kicked on with his move to Poland.

Oyedele played as a defensive midfielder for Legia and nailed down a starting role by the end of the season.

The Polish media have praised Oyedele as a player and as a person, and he even earned a first Poland call-up last season.

Bruno Fernandes was shocked when United sold Oyedele and the 20-year-old is now set for another move just a year after leaving Old Trafford.
