Nottingham Forest have contacted Man City with £25m move now expected

The remainder of the summer transfer window is set to be busy for Manchester City.

The Premier League giants entered the summer transfer window looking to add four to five new players to Pep Guardiola’s squad, and having already achieved this, the remaining weeks will be focused on outgoings and securing loan deals for their younger stars.

Guardiola made it clear towards the end of last season that he does not want to work with a big group of players throughout the upcoming campaign, which has left doubt over the futures of Jack Grealish, James McAtee, John Stones, and even Ilkay Gundogan.

Several clubs have shown interest in these stars throughout the summer transfer window, but it is Nottingham Forest who are ready to make a move.

Nottingham Forest ready to bid for James McAtee

Nottingham Forest are set to receive £60m for the sale of Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham over the coming days, and with the Englishman being one of their best players, the 25-year-old will need replacing.

James McAtee has been a long-term interest for Nottingham Forest, and the Premier League club are now expected to make a move for the midfielder once the deal for Gibbs-White is over the line.

According to The Telegraph, Forest are expected to make a formal offer to Man City for McAtee soon, with contact having already been made with the Manchester club.

City are anticipating the offer, which is expected to be around £25m, but it is not certain if that will be enough, as Man City value McAtee closer to the £42.5m fee Chelsea paid for Cole Palmer in 2023.

The report states that West Ham are also keen on the 22-year-old, as they look for attacking replacements for Mohammed Kudus, who is also set to join Tottenham in a £55 million deal.

The two English clubs will need to make their moves fast, as Bundesliga sides will be confident of landing the Man City star should they make a move.

Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are leading the race for James McAtee

In addition to the English clubs, there is interest from Germany and Italy in McAtee, with the latest reports stating that Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are leading the race for the Man City star.

McAtee is open to a move to the Bundesliga, as it would provide him with the opportunity to play regular minutes and compete in the Champions League, which gives the German duo a significant advantage over their competitors.

Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Roma are also showing interest in the 22-year-old; however, the Italian sides are likely on the back foot when it comes to signing the City midfielder.
