Report: Wolves rivalling European powerhouse for £8.6m Rayan Ait-Nouri replacement

The left wing-back role is an area Wolves must strengthen this summer, following the loss of Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City.

The silky Algerian produced 12 goal involvements in all competitions last term, prompting Man City to splash the cash on Ait-Nouri.

Wolves will seriously miss his output from wide areas and need a strong replacement, even with Hugo Bueno returning from his loan at Feyenoord.

So far, Wolves have been linked to Barcelona’s Gerard Martin as a possible option, though interest in the Spaniard has cooled in recent weeks.

Now, Vitor Pereira could rival a European team for the signature of one former Derby County talent.

Wolves rivalling AC Milan for Archie Brown

According to MilanNews.net, Wolves are rivalling AC Milan and Fenerbahce for the signing of Gent left-back Archie Brown.

Milan have placed Brown on their radar as a possible replacement for Theo Hernandez after he joined Al Hilal and Jose Mourinho’s team are also ‘strongly interested’ in the Englishman.

The report claims that the 23-year-old is valued at between €8 and €10 million (£6.9m – £8.6m), making him an affordable acquisition for the Old Gold.

Brown played an integral role for the Belgian side last term, with nine goal involvements in 46 matches in all competitions.

The Derby County academy graduate is an exciting attacking wing-back and arguably someone who could fill Ait-Nouri’s void.

Normally, any chance of landing a player ahead of a giant in the sport would be difficult, but since Milan can’t offer European football next season, they’re less of an attractive proposition.

Wolves will find it difficult to replace Ait-Nouri

Micah Richards was blown away by Ait-Nouri when Wolves met Manchester City in 2024/25, with his performance arguably resulting in Pep Guardiola signing him.

The fact that Wolves only received £26.5 million for Ait-Nouri after paying his 50% sell-on clause to Angers was terrible business from the club, and they must make amends by finding a quality replacement.

Unfortunately, as the 24-year-old is the best left wing-back in the Premier League, it looks impossible to find someone of his calibre.

Currently, it appears that Wolves are only willing to spend around £10 million on a wing-back, as there are other pressing concerns in the squad, such as finding a successor to Matheus Cunha.

But for Pereira’s men to enjoy a successful 2025/26 campaign, surely finding a quality wing-back is crucial.
