Manchester United are confident that a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford will soon be agreed, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have told him about Man United‘s pursuit of the Cameroon forward.
Mbeumo has been United’s top target in this summer’s transfer window since they completed the £62.5million signing of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, but they’re yet to meet Brentford’s similar asking price.
Man United’s most recent bid of £60m was rejected by Brentford last month as the Bees hold out for a guaranteed fee closer to £65m, but Football Insider sources have said that United aren’t panicking yet.
Sources have instead told Football Insider that United still expect to complete the signing of Mbeumo in time for the new season, and it’s likely they’ll reach a compromise of around £62–63m with Brentford.
The 25-year-old’s transfer preferences have long since been made clear with Mbeumo establishing that he only wants to join Man United this summer, and a deal between the two clubs could soon be struck.

Brentford braced for new Man United offer in new Mbeumo plan
Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Brentford are one of several Premier League clubs interested in free-scoring Celtic forward Daizen Maeda, but he’ll likely be seen as a direct Mbeumo replacement.
Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said Brentford are therefore trying to extract as much value as they can out of any deal done for Mbeumo, but he still remains confident that Man United will prevail.
“I don’t think there’s any real panic from Manchester United over the pursuit of Brian Mbeumo – the key here is that the player wants the move“, he told Football Insider.
“Brentford have obviously rejected two offers so far of around £60million – they’re going to try and get as much as they possibly can.
“I still expect a deal for Mbeumo to go through, probably meet somewhere in the middle around £62–63million pounds.
“Brentford will look to get more [money] up front because they’ll need it to try and replace him – it’s not going to be cheap to find a replacement for Mbeumo because we know how key he is for them.
“Talks are ongoing between the two clubs and I fully expect this move to go through, and that Bryan Mbeumo will be a Manchester United player for the start of next season.”

Man United must conclude Mbeumo saga amid transfer uncertainty
Going back and forth over small percentages of a £65m transfer fee isn’t what Man United fans had in mind for this summer’s window, particularly given Mbeumo‘s superb track record in the Premier League.
With Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho all still on United’s books despite Ruben Amorim’s intention to sell them, time is not on the Red Devils’ side this summer.
Breaking the negotiation deadlock to finally seal Mbeumo’s transfer gives Amorim two superb additions to United’s attack, and attention can then turn to selling the players currently acting as millstones around their necks.
