“Paqueta to be Cleared” Claims Well Connected Source

West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá is set to be acquitted of all betting charges by the FA, according to former Everton CEO Keith Wyness.

That was the shock revelation last night, as Wyness claimed his sources had informed him of the FA’s decision to clear the Brazilian midfielder.

It’s important to note that nothing has been officially confirmed at this stage. However, Claret & Hugh have approached both West Ham United and a source close to Paquetá for comment. While nobody is willing to go on the record just yet, there is growing quiet confidence within the Paquetá camp that he will be found innocent of any wrongdoing.

Speaking to Football Insider, Wyness said:

“It’s very surprising and mysterious as to why there’s suddenly been a delay after all the hearings that have been done.

My sources had told me that it was done and that he was going to be found innocent. Why this delay, unless there’s some new evidence that has cropped up at the last minute? It’s very hard to understand.”

When we contacted our own source about Wyness’ claims, we were told he had been “well briefed” on the situation—although no one is willing to predict with certainty what the FA will decide next.

We’ll endeavour to discover more in the coming hours but there does appear to be a quiet confidence from Paqueta’s team. The Brazilian has endured a torturous 24 months under the microscope and one imagines questions will have to answered about why the saga has dragged on for so long.
