Tottenham are on their way to signing another player after landing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

Tottenham are now springing to life in the summer transfer window after announcing a deal to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham. It has been a slow start to the summer from Spurs, whose transfer planning was delayed after a drawn out decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou.

Thomas Frank was eventually made the new manager, and a new - or at least heavily adjusted - recruitment plan had to be formed. The attack was always going to be an area of priority for Frank, who likes his sides to play attacking football, and Tottenham have now made a statement signing.

Kudus joined from West Ham on Friday on a deal worth around £55million. The club confirmed in a statement: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, subject to work permit. The Ghana international has agreed a long-term contract and will wear the number 20 shirt.

“Born in Nima in Accra, Ghana, Mohammed spent his early years locally with Strong Tower FC before joining the Right to Dream Academy in 2012. Ahead of his 18th birthday, he moved to Europe and joined Nordsjaelland in 2018 and, after making 57 senior appearances and scoring 14 times for the Danish outfit, he earned a move to Ajax in July, 2020.”

Kudus told the club website upon arriving: “It feels great to be here, I’m very happy and can’t wait to start,” he said. “I’m a very direct winger, strong, very good in taking players on and creating chances, so there is a lot of flair in my game.

“I like to entertain the fans as well. That’s what football is about – it’s putting a memory in the heads of the fans that they have when they go back home, and after the money they’ve spent to buy a ticket. Although there is also a lot of seriousness and competitiveness in the game, I still think it’s a sport I try to enjoy as much as I can and give the fans something to enjoy too. I hope fans are going to really enjoy what I’m going to bring to the team here.

“One of the most important parts of why I came here is the project and how the manager sees it, and to develop under him. With the history of where he’s come from, I’ve seen the amount of talent he’s developed to become great players. It’s a big sign of why I wanted to work under him as well.

“I’m very team-orientated so my personal goals are around helping the team get as many points as we can, to be as high as we can in the Premier League and perform really well and go as far as we can in the Champions League.”

Spurs now chasing another Premier League star

Tottenham are now said to be chasing a deal for one of Nottingham Forest’s standout players in Morgan Gibbs-White. Fabrizio Romano has reported on X: “After Mohammed Kudus, Tottenham complete Morgan Gibbs-White deal today. £115m total package invested in 24h as release clause for Gibbs-White has been triggered.”

Gibbs-White was key for Forest again last season, and he is still yet to reach his prime at 25 years of age. Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has said of the midfielder previously: “Morgan is a very special player for us. Very important, talented, the work rate on the pitch, but to allow Morgan to have these moments a lot of things happen behind, hard work by the boys and this is very important.”
