Manchester United are considering a summer move for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, according to CaughtOffside.
The Red Devils have reportedly earmarked the England international as a ‘top target’ but need to offload players first to fund any potential deal.
It is believed that Rasmus Hojlund’s departure would be required before United could pursue Watkins, whose arrival is said to be highly favoured by head coach Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese tactician has identified Watkins as an alternative to long-standing target Viktor Gyokeres, who has snubbed a reunion with Amorim in favour of a move to Arsenal.

According to CaughtOffside, Watkins is unlikely to be a cheap or easy signing for any interested Premier League club, as Aston Villa are not keen on selling the 29-year-old.
Watkins is expected to remain a key player for Unai Emery’s side next season after a strong 2024/25 campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
The £130,000-a-week England international, who is believed to have been the subject of talks between United and Villa already, is under contract until June 2028.
Man United’s summer activity has slowed following a £62.5m deal for Matheus Cunha, with talks for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo yet to reach a breakthrough.
United have so far been reluctant to meet Brentford’s £65m valuation for the Cameroonian ace but remain optimistic about concluding the deal before their pre-season tour of the United States.
The Red Devils kick off their US tour with a game against West Ham in New Jersey on July 26.
