Newcastle United still linked with £56m forward from Borussia Dortmund despite Anthony Elanga…

· 11 July 2025, 10:00

**Newcastle United are keeping its fanbase on tenterhooks as they sit on the official announcement of Anthony Elanga's £55 million move from Nottingham Forest.**

Elanga has been spotted at the training ground, reports have done the rounds that the medical has been completed. As far as everyone is concerned, Anthony Elanga is a Newcastle United player, but until we have the official announcement from the club, fans are perhaps a bit reluctant to celebrate his arrival fully.

Anthony Elanga's signing addresses a long-standing issue in Eddie Howe's squad as the right wing has always felt like a particular weak spot for Newcastle, especially in the days of Miguel Almiron.

Jacob Murphy massively stepped up last season, somehow finding another gear to go into, but his wild inconsistency in the past is still a worry, and Elanga will likely take over the starting role immediately from Murphy.

Karim Adeyemi - Still wanted by Newcastle?

Guess which other club has been credited with an interest in Karim Adeyemi, along with Newcastle

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now Newcastle have two quality wingers for each flank, but if German outlet [Bild](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/bvb-legt-schmerzgrenze-fuer-adeyemi-fest-686ffb4da893122c2b97ed8c) are to be believed, we're not done yet as they are reporting that Newcastle are still chasing Borussia Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi.

Dortmund have set a massive asking price of €65 million (£56 million), which is likely to put Newcastle off, if indeed they were interested at all.

Chelsea (naturally) are also thought to be keen on Adeyemi, having already taken Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Dortmund for a similar fee.

Newcastle don't need Karim Adeyemi

----------------------------------

We're having a hard time believing this one, if we're being honest. Anthony Elanga solves our winger problem; we don't need another one at this point.

Even though Adeyemi can play across the front three, centre-forward is not his natural position, and that's what we need next.

It just feels like Bild are hanging on to an old claim of Newcastle's interest and ignoring the current situation to get a story out there. We'd be very surprised if anything comes of this.
