An update has emerged regarding the story we recently covered about [Botafogo’s attempt to sign Luis Guilherme from West Ham United](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-receive-offer-for-19-year-old-player-not-keen-despite-limited-minutes/) – this time, the value of the offer has been revealed.
[According to fresh reports from Brazil](https://oglobo.globo.com/esportes/futebol/botafogo/noticia/2025/07/09/botafogo-oficializa-oferta-de-r-130-milhoes-ao-west-ham-para-contratar-luis-guilherme-ex-palmeiras.ghtml), the Rio de Janeiro side have put forward a bid worth £17m for the 19-year-old forward.
The proposal includes a permanent transfer, full payment up front, and a clear sporting project offering Luis Guilherme immediate prominence in Botafogo’s first team.
Back in February, West Ham were said to be asking for around £15m, meaning the new offer even exceeds their previous valuation.
Although the Brazilian starlet has made it clear he would prefer to stay in Europe, it’s not ruled he could be convinced.
West Ham selling Luis Guilherme, who joined from Palmeiras for £25.5m in 2023 and has made just 13 appearances since, could be seen as a chance to move on from something which hasn’t really worked out.
A transfer at this stage would also generate accounting profit, as the player’s fee has already been partially amortised.
Whether the club are truly ready to move on from the youngster remains to be seen.
