Arsenal Should Offer“Magnificent”Defender In Exchange For Eberechi Eze–Opinion

Arsenal should offer Ben White in a swap deal for Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze this summer.

It has all but been confirmed that Arsenal have signed Noni Madueke from Chelsea to play as a backup to Bukayo Saka next season. Furthermore, the Gunners want to bring in a striker; Viktor Gyokeres is the current frontrunner.

Despite signing Madueke, Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze remains a target for Mikel Arteta following a year where the England international led Palace to their first ever FA Cup title. He made 43 appearances for Oliver Glanser’s side last year, scoring 14 goals, and providing 11 assists.

Arsenal and Spurs are both keen to sign the 27-year-old this summer, who has a £68m release clause in his contract at Palace. A report by the Mirror has said that Palace will only sell him for his £68m price, and they don’t want the midfielder to leave Selhurst Park.

The same report says that Palace are also keen to keep hold of right-back Daniel Munoz, amid suggestions that he could leave this summer.

He was quoted in the report saying: “I want to play for the best teams in the world, but they haven’t spoken to me directly. I dream and work every day to achieve it, and I hope it can happen as soon as possible. I hope it’s in this window, but if not, I’m very happy at Crystal Palace.”

Arsenal should offer Ben White for Eze

Seeing as Palace seem to be at a serious risk of losing both Eze and Munoz, Arsenal could consider softening the blow in an attempt to secure Eze for a cheaper cost by offering right-back Ben White in part-exchange for Eze.

White has fallen out of favour at Arsenal with the emergence of Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber, and could be sold whilst his value remains high. Arsenal signed White for a fee of £50m from Brighton in 2021. However, last year, he made just 17 Premier League appearances.

The 27-year-old would be a great addition for Palace, as it would allow them some cover seeing as Munoz wants to leave, there is no doubt that White is more than capable of starting for the Eagles. Last season, he received high praise from Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who said on Match of the Day after a win against Brentford: “I thought again Ben White was magnificent, Saka also done very well. Ben White has been brilliant. He has been playing very well.”

With White holding an estimated market value of £39m, Arsenal could offer the defender plus around £30m in order to secure Eze, and get plenty of value back for White, who is getting less and less of a role in Arteta’s squad.
