Former Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies is back in football.
The Scot has been out of work since being sacked by the Reds over a decade ago. Davies was axed from his second spell in charge at the City Ground in March 2014.
But he is back in work, having been appointed technical head coach at Scottish Championship club Greenock Morton to work alongside manager Dougie Imrie
“I’m delighted to be joining Greenock Morton and working with an excellent young manager to support him and the club as a whole,” said Davies.
“Over the last couple of weeks, I have met with the board, chairman and Dougie, all of whom have been extremely positive and ambitious for the future.
“Morton is a club with a huge amount of potential at the heart of the Inverclyde community, and I’m excited for the project ahead.”
Imrie said: “It’s fantastic to have Billy coming on board. His experience speaks for itself, and his influence will help raise the standards across the club. We’re raring to go for the new season.”
And chairman John Laird added: “Billy’s appointment signals our ambition to keep progressing.
“His knowledge will be invaluable as we support Dougie and continue building momentum.
“Through discussions with Billy, his enthusiasm for the role is clear, and we look forward to working with him.”
